Einstök at BonnLair Saturday, August 23


Join Dave and the crew at BonnLair Saturday evening for the Sacramento release of Einstök Arctic Berry Ale. Starting at 8:00 pm, they’ll be serving the newest addition to the Einstök line, and all of their Einstök selections will be on special.

Einstök is brewed with glacial water in Akureyri, Iceland, 60 miles south of the Arctic Circle. Drink some in the chill neighborhood vibe at BonnLair, and get a glimpse of Valhalla…viking helmets optional.

The Davis Bike and Brew Fest happens this coming Saturday. Over 60 breweries and 10 wineries will be pouring their finest. Three live bands, food trucks, and a commemorative glass are all waiting for you…

VIP tickets are available for additional cost, and will get you into the VIP patio and indoor venue with additional rare specialty and craft brews, and additional food tastings from VIP vendors.

2nd Annual California Hop Exchange Saturday August 16th





Did you grow hops this year? Do you want fresh local hops? Are you interested in hops? Then head out to the Ruhstaller Farm & Yard in Dixon this coming Saturday, August 16th at 10 am. This free event is intended to connect local hops growers and ‘brewers of gallons and barrels’ to exchange hops, ideas, etc. If you grew this year, bring some of your crop to exchange with other growers. Bring a brew or two to share and connect with other hops enthusiasts.

Get Your Saison On – it’s not too hot to brew



Sacramento might be hot, but that’s no excuse to stop brewing! Saison and other farmhouse styles are ideal to brew in warmer weather. Many of the yeast strains you can choose from ferment ideally in temperatures ranging from 84 to 95 degrees, and produce wonderful and refreshing esters. Saison was the traditional drink of Belgian summer seasonal farmworkers - les saisonierres. Farmhouse ale also makes a great base for secondary ferments on seasonal fruits or adding spices.

If you haven’t brewed a saison before, come in and we’ll get you set up with a recipe and all the ingredients you need. A votre santé!


Reminder – Zymatic® and Annie Johnson at BFD Today and Saturday


Annie Johnson, 2013 AHA Homebrewer of the Year, will be brewing on the PicoBrew Zymatic®, the world’s first fully automatic all-grain brewing appliance.
Annie will be brewing from from 3 to 7 pm on Friday, and again on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Come meet Annie and learn about the Zymatic®!
This is the first week the Zymatic® has been demonstrated in California; pre-sale orders are being taken at this time, and the units will be available in September.
