Father’s Day = A Minimum Day!

Yep – Father’s Day is Sunday…and I’m going go be a dad and spend time with my kids. The rest of the BFD crew is either going to be a dad or a son and do the same. We will, however, be open from 10 am to 2 pm – Just in case you just gotta brew, or perhaps you need that special holiday fermentation gift…

Happy Father’s Day!

Congratulations NHC Winners!

The American Homebrewer’s Association National Homebrew Competition wrapped up this past week in San Diego. The largest international beer competition in the world, almost 9,000 beers, meads, and ciders were judged at twelve national judging sites, including BFD here in Sacramento, in March and April. The top three placing entries in each BJCP category moved on to the Final Round judging in San Diego this past Thursday – over 950 final entries were judged, and winners were announced at the AHA National Homebrew Conference Banquet on Saturday June 13th.

Among the 2015 winners were Sacramento locals John Boyd, who won a gold medal in Category 7 with his California Common and Joseph Cruz, who won a silver medal in Category 19 with an English Barleywine. Well done, gentlemen!

A slew of awards were won by California brewers from the Bay and San Diego areas as well. We lead the nation in the flat-out number of craft breweries, and the skill and experience of our homebrew community reflects in the number of winners we have here.

Congratulations to all of the 2015 AHA NHC winners – we’ll be supporting you all again next year! For a complete list of winners and more information, please visit the National Homebrew Competition website.
