Celebrewtion Registration Closes Sunday

The Celebrewtion 2014 homebrew competition is coming up soon – the deadline for registration and entry dropoff is this Sunday, September 21 at 5:00 pm. You’ll need three 12-ounce bottles per entry, and you can drop your entries to BFD.

As a sanctioned AHA/BJCP competition, your entries will be judged by two BJCP judges, and you receive those judging sheets. This is a great way to get quality feedback on your beers, and possible bragging rights with your buddies if you place!

Farm To Glass – Last Public Showing Tonight

Join Brew Wave Productions, Beers In Sac, and Jackrabbit Brewing Company for the final public screening of Farm to Glass, a 15 minute documentary short about the return of locally grown hops in northern California.

Hosted at Capital Dime, 1801 L Street downtown. The fun begins at 6 pm!

Café Au Ale-Coffee Beer Specialty Competition October 17

The Café Au Ale coffee beer competition has been launched, and registration is now open. This competition is open to all beer styles, to which you have added coffee. Beers will be judged according to BJCP guidelines, and then grouped into three major categories for Finals: The Lighter Side (lighter colored beers less than 17 SRM), the Darker Side (darker beers 17 SRM or over), and Coffee IPA (all beers 40 IBU or greater). First, second, and third prizes will  be awarded in each of these three categories.

The competition is being held in conjunction with Sacramento Specialty Coffee Week. Drop-offs accepted between October 1 and October 10, preliminary judging will be held (tentatively) at BFD, and the finals, Best of Show, and awards will be held at Old Soul at 40 Acres coffee house Friday evening, October 17th.

Get your beers ready!
