After 13 years in the mortgage industry, I recognized the need for a home brew store in central Sacramento.  The original BFD, located on 36th and Broadway, opened in July 2010. We quickly outgrew the original 1,100 square foot corner shop, and in March 2013 moved to the historic Coca-Cola bottling building on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Now residing in our 4,100 square foot home, we have greatly expanded our inventory and are one of the largest brew shops in the region.

Our goal is not only to be the number one source for our local brewers but to create a community of DIY foodies and drinkers. We want to raise the awareness of all things brewed, fermented and distilled. This includes making your own beer, wine, cheese and charcuterie.

I am a single father of two wonderful young children who inspire me every day. We have built a local, family-owned business and we have a heart for our customers and our community.

I am often asked why I chose to remain in Oak Park…for me that was a no-brainer. I have lived in the Oak Park neighborhood for over a decade and started my family here; I have seen the value of the area and the people in it. I would not have had it any other way.
